Summary | This course builds on the understandings of children=s learning, curriculum, assessment and pedagogy developed in both E3 Preparing for Teaching: Level 2 Education (Middle Primary Years) and E4 Teaching in School: Level 2 Middle Primary Placement.
It develops an understanding of teaching and learning focused on the second level of the new curriculum as experienced by pupils in the upper years of the primary school. The course aims to extend student=s understanding of the relationships between curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment through study of developments in the ?Assessment AS Learning= aspects of the Assessment for Learning Programme. This develops student understanding of the important role played by metacognition and creativity in children=s learning . The course also considers case study evidence of curriculum developments in Scottish schools during the transition towards A Curriculum for Excellence.
