Summary | Knowledge of funding is important for community educators, who are frequently required to give advice and assurance to community organisations in raising funds for ongoing work or to develop new initiatives. The nature and type of funding available for community education activities is complex, varied and changeable. In recent years, funding has become more project-specific, short-term and in many instances tied to detailed contracts. There is a greater emphasis on accountability to funders, and greater competition for funds. This course will enable students to develop a more sophisticated knowledge and understanding of policy and procedures, through exploration of the tensions between such roles as adviser, resource-getter or liaison with funding bodies and their wider developmental and educational role. |
