SummaryThis course is designed to encompass studies undertaken both within ECA but primarily on work-based placement. The course develops students' professional awareness of current working methods and practices within their discipline in order to plan their personal focus and direction within the discipline. The course will introduce advanced professional practices and methods and enable students to begin to professionally position their practice, exploring a range of appropriate design methodologies and strategies for the professional presentation, and documentation of work.

Additional Information (Assessment) Assessment is by submission of portfolio of project work at the end of the course. At the end of Semester 2 students will be given summative feedback; this is done individually.
Feedback Formative assessment is undertaken upon students return from their work based placement. There is continual formative feedback and feed forward throughout the session through Skype meetings / e-mail whilst the student is on work based placement, and on their return through group and individual tutorials and peer group work.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. EVALUATE: recognise work based placement and studio requirements and generate appropriate creative responses.
  2. REFLECT: demonstrate the ability to reflect on your work-based placement experience and plan appropriate studio activity in response.
  3. COMMUNICATE: communicate proposals, concepts and responses, using appropriate professional methods.
