Students will learn the basics underlying orthodontic assessment and treatment planning to enable them to carry out a comprehensive assessment for their patients.

- Understand the growth and development of the dento-alveolar complex
- Carry out an orthodontic assessment of the developing and established dentition
- Identify the need for orthodontic referral
- Understand the basic principles of orthodontic appliances
- Discuss the multidisciplinary management of hypodontia
