Course description |
Year 2 Semester 1 will concentrate on the significance of microbiology within the human body and focus specifically on how it may affect the oral cavity, causing disease. You will begin to look at general aspects of oral pathology whilst also building and cementing your knowledge on periodontal disease and the important associated risk factors. This course is all lecture based.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- - Demonstrate an understanding of relevant aspects of microbiology and associated conditions affecting patients and the oral cavity
- - Show a broad knowledge of and be able to explain the important principles associated with dental caries
- - Demonstrate an understanding of the aetiology and pathogenesis of oral disease.
- - Recognise and describe periodontium in health & disease along with other associated factors and treatment.
