Summary	The areas of study in this course will include Pain and Anxiety control, dental public health, behavioural sciences, emergency care and oral health promotion.
Course description	Preparation for Practice in year 2 will involve a closer look at pain and anxiety control through the use of block anaesthesia. You will come to consider the important topic of dental public health paying close attention to dental health and services within the UK. Oral health promotion will allow the chance to study the importance of education and how to plan health interventions. You will also continue to revise and maintain the skills and knowledge required for quick emergency care. This course will include a mixture of lecture based classes with hands on practical skills sessions.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to: - Recognise the landmark/anatomical features important in block injections and how to safely administer local anaesthetic in these situations. - Have a knowledge of the dental public health system within the UK and how it works - Recognise the importance of behavioural sciences within dentistry and how to appropriately manage patients. - Have the knowledge and be competent in dealing with medical emergencies including BLS. - Have knowledge of the principles behind oral health promotion and education.
