On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. The ability to research the background literature relating to a particular area of research
  2. To become proficient in a subset of laboratory techniques related to the line of research.
  3. Develop an ability to plan and execute an experimental plan and interpret the results of experiments.
  4. To present and discuss the results in two formats: a research talk and a short scientific written report or paper.
  5. Develop a long-term research plan by preparing a grant proposal
