| Summary | During their third year abroad while studying for these combined degrees, students carry out guided reading under the supervision of a member of the School of History, Classics and Archaeology and write an essay on a historical theme which makes use of the language that they are studying. The essays are handed in on the student's return at the beginning of Year 4. |
| Course description |
The year abroad essay (worth 40 credit points) is the only piece of work that students are expected to do in their third year for History. It gives students the opportunity to develop their own research project or discuss historiography on a subject that interests them in the place where they are working or studying, and is of their own choosing. It will help them develop the organizational and analytical skills that they have attained in the previous two years of study.
