SummaryThe teaching programme consists of two complementary strands, introducing students to the pronunciation, grammar and syntax of Early Irish, and training them to read edited Early Irish texts. It provides students with an introduction to the palaeographic, orthographic and textual background of the texts studied. The course starts by introducing students to the pronunciation of Early Irish and developing reading skills in Early Irish, and proceeds to study Early Irish texts with a greater emphasis on content and context.

Pre-requisitesPlease note pre-requisites as stated above. Visiting students will be expected to demonstrate an equivalent level of competency in a Celtic language and/or knowledge of Celtic Civilisation/literature.
