| Course description |
For this course one (or more) group(s) of students work together to create a presentation on a theme relevant to the classical world. This presentation should be devised with a particular audience in mind, and could take the form of an exhibition (eg using display boards), video or website, or a performance by the group (eg to a class of school children).The group determines the subject of the presentation and the means to present it to the target audience. Whichever medium is chosen, the results have to be available to the designated audience (and the examiners) by the end of the semester.
During the semester there will be weekly formal meetings which will have an agenda and minutes, but the group may also meet informally at other times. Each student will also keep a personal log which will be handed in every week at a set time. Staff will be available for advice - but the task is basically theirs: there will be a (very) limited budget available. The difference between this and other courses is that the students will be assessed on how effectively they work together as a group - not just as individuals, and the skills assessed go beyond those developed in more traditional courses. It encourages students to engage with an audience outside the University and to exercise ingenuity and creativity within an academic discipline.

Information for Visiting Students
| Pre-requisites | Visiting students should usually have at least 3 courses in Classics related subject matter (at least 2 of which should be in Ancient History or Classical Art/Archaeology) at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this) for entry to this course. We will only consider University/College level courses. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- demonstrate through their logbooks that they can contribute to a group
- demonstrate through the display created by their group (whatever form it
- demonstrate through the logbooks and the display itself that they can research and collect information on a specific Classical topic
- draw up a simple agenda, write minutes and chair meetings
- demonstrate through the group display that they can work to a deadline and within a budget.
