| Summary | This will cover clinical methods of body imaging (75%) and common pathologies diagnosed during body imaging (25%). Methods of body imaging will be taught via the online module in imaging. Additional lectures will cover common pathologies, and the content will parallel the regional anatomy covered in Embryology, BIME11001 and BIME11007 (Basic Human Anatomy 1 and 2) |
| Course description |
The course will comprise of an online module which will describe the main techniques which are used clinically to image the body, including MRI, x-ray and CT. You will learn about the principles behind these techniques, and learn to identify key anatomical structures from the results. During the second semester you will also get some lectures on common pathologies which can be identified using different body imaging approaches.

The online component of this course will contain routine quizzes and test so the student can monitor their own understanding and progress. The seminars will be discussion based, so the students will be able to contribute their ideas and receive feedback from the tutor. |

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe commonly used methods to image the body
- Identify anatomical features from commonly used methods of body imaging
- Describe the common pathologies which can be identified during body imaging.

During the online module, the students will be responsible for managing their own time and engage in independent learning. During the seminars the students will be encouraged to participate in discussion, which will aid their communication skills and constructive feedback to their peers.
In this course the students will also learn to apply their anatomical knowledge which they have gained in BHA1 and BHA2. This will require them to think critically, and consider the implications of the information that they have gained elsewhere.
