Summary | The cellular and molecular events that underlie the development, progression and resolution of inflammation will be studied. The cells involved in inflammation and control of their function by inflammatory mediators, chemokines and cytokines will be considered in the context of processes such as cell recruitment, cell activation and cell death. The course will have a combination of seminar-based teaching and student-led moderated discussion sessions to develop the main teaching themes. |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- A series of lectures and tutorials covering the academic discipline of innate immunity, complementing and providing breadth and depth to the laboratory research
- Full time 20 week laboratory research project in inflammation research, complemented with a lecture and tutorial programme
