On completion of this course, the student will be able to: Discuss the cultural, social and historical influences on our attitudes to dogs and cats Describe and debate animals as pets ż our responsibilities to their welfare Explain how to assess welfare of cats and dogs and appreciate the practical difficulties in doing this. Discuss companion animal population control and infectious disease control Discuss companion animals in trade; fur, meat and slaughter
