Indicative course content
In this course students will be introduced to the basic research methods appropriate to their specific discipline. Students will apply these methods to creatively inform and underpin their studio practice
Course description Introduce core methodologies of artistic research.

Various topics can be introduced during the academic year.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Research 1 (Art) (ARTX07004) OR Research 1 (Photography) (ARTX07034)
Co-requisites Students MUST also take: ( Studio 2 (Photography) (ARTX08040) AND Professional Practice 2 (Photography) (ARTX08042) AND Art 2: Postmodernism and After (ARTX08025))
Prohibited Combinations Other requirements This course is only available to ECA students on degree programmes belonging to the School of Art.
Direct Entry students to Year 2 must have Recognised Prior Learning equivalent to 120 credits.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. INVESTIGATE: use a variety of practical and theoretical methods to demonstrate an investigation of research themes
  2. CONSIDER: demonstrate the consideration of a range of issues influencing the research
  3. SELECT: demonstrate the ability to select research themese and directions appropriate to specific projects

Additional Class Delivery Information Mixture of one hour group seminars and studio crits.
