SummaryThis is a dissertation - type course that allows students to research, in depth, issues, ideas and themes contained in Material Practice.
Course description Students will develop and produce a major study in material practice, working across a variety of digital and physical media. Each project will be developed through discussion with the course organiser and core team of tutors. Students will be encouraged to develop topics that relate to their own response to Material Practice and to work directly with a particular tutor, whose expertise and interests align with the intended area of study
It is intended to have a flexible and relatively broad approach to the range of topics, modes of practice and presentation. The topics will be developed during the second semester. A key aspect is the consideration of practical factors such as staff, technical resources and time. Therefore students will be required to produce a carefully prepared outline of work and plan that explicitly fits the proposal into the resources available. This is seen as an important pedagogical point concerning evaluation of technology and resources. Assessment includes recognition for planning, execution and reflection.
