Summary | Classes will provide an account of major topics in the grammar of English from a cognitive linguistics perspective. The topics addressed may vary from year to year, but are likely to include many of the following:
(Pseudo-)cleft and existential 'there' constructions; (non-)finiteness; clause complementation; prepositions and particles; the syntax of middles; auxiliaries; relative clauses; nouns and nominals. |
