SummaryThis course provides the students with an introduction to medical/veterinary research techniques and provides a snapshot of current research issues.
Course description Week 1:18 hours of lectures by MVM staff
Week 2, 4, 5: 10 hours of statistics. Dr Darren Shaw
Week 3: Molecular Biology Course. 40 hours. Dr Bernadette Dutia
Generic Skills courses: Writing up science; Good Research Practice; Effective Presentations; Project Planning

Learning Outcomes
Students should have an overview of the range of techniques currently used in medical research, from epidemiology to stem cell biology. Areas specifically relevant to medical qualified researchers such as clinical trial design, ethics and the regulation of human studies should be understood. Students will have a detailed knowledge of the field in which they carried out their research project.
