Learning Outcomes
Students completing this course will:
-Describe and summarise the World Health Organisation's efforts to document and coordinate eHealth globally.
-Identify the key features and trajectories of eHealth policies in low, medium and high income countries.
-Examine regional differences in infrastructure and capacity that influence the applicability of eHealth and mHealth platforms.
-Interpret and discuss a range of socio-political, economic and cultural influences on the appropriateness and effectiveness of eHealth.
- Analyse the need for contextual awareness when planning eHealth design or procurement.
-Investigate the challenges involved in gathering electronic data for effective global health metrics.
- Evaluate innovative uses of ICT for obtaining and sharing crowd sourced data for public health and research.
- Appraise and criticise the emergence of grounded innovations in low income countries and how this challenges traditional technology transfer models.
- Assess the human resource challenges for eHealth in developing countries.
- Critique and debate the importance of evaluation in this area.
