Summary	The dissertation course is designed to further develop the student's scientific skills and ability to utilise scientific theory. The dissertation project is designed to further develop the student's understanding of the processes and planning involved in undertaking research and to develop their scientific written communication skills. The dissertation project involves the completion of a short introduction and an Experimental Paper in which students are expected to carry out experimental design (where possible), data collection, statistical analysis and interpretation. This will be presented in the format of a scientific paper. Students will be given the option of undertaking either a research project involving data collection/analyses or a desk-based study. The dissertation takes 9 months part-time. We suggest regular meetings with supervisors.
