Summary | This course aims to give the student knowledge of a representative sample of poetry from Latin America. Its primary focus will be on developing the student's analytical and interpretive skills through close reading, but ample reference will also be made to the socio-cultural context and to wider literary movements to broaden the students' knowledge of the field of Latin American literature. The students will learn to express themselves in a coherent manner in both verbal and written form, and will gain an appreciation of the value of poetry and of the problems peculiar to reading, interpreting and indeed defining poetry as opposed to other literary genres. |
