Summary | This course will provide an overview of data collection, analysis and presentation for research and education purposes, drawing on illustrative examples from wildlife and ecosystem scenarios. Although the emphasis will be on the non-mathematical understanding of statistics and the interpretation of numerical results, some examples will require calculation and the use of statistical software. In addition to providing a general overview of statistical concepts, this course will provide students with some of the basic statistical tools necessary to conduct research. It is emphasised that this course is not designed to teach students how to perform complex statistical analysis or advanced techniques. |
