SummaryIndicative course content
To consolidate an understanding and practice of a range of approaches to Intermedia within contemporary art (post 1945) 1945 is viewed in this instance as a useful cut off point as this date marks a shift in cultural, economical and political power.

Aims of course
1 To intergrate an understanding of Intermedia within individual practice.
2 To identify an appropriate context for individual practice.
3 To explore a range of appropriate Intermedia methodologies and strategies in reproduction of work.

Mode of delivery
Individual tutorials, Group seminars, Guest speakers, Presentation
Course description Various topics will be introduced during the academic year.

Articulate issues within contemporary art studio practice.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: ( Intermedia practice 2 (ARTX08022) AND Intermedia Research 2 (ARTX08023) AND Intermedia Professional Practice 2 (ARTX08024) AND Art 2: Postmodernism and After (ARTX08025))
Co-requisites Students MUST also take: Intermedia Research 3 (ARTX09044) AND Intermedia Professional Practice 3 (ARTX09045) AND Art 3: Visual Research (ARTX09046)
Prohibited Combinations Other requirements This course is only available to ECA students on degree programmes belonging to the School of Art.
Additional Costs ECA students are required to pay for the cost of materials used throughout their programme of study.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Communicate individual ideas through production of Intermedia artwork in a coherent form, applying a personal developed practice.
  2. Identify and utilize a combination of external precedents and personal approaches to solve problems creatively.
  3. Evaluate work critically and in reference to the context of Intermedia Art practice.
