Indicative course content
This course introduces students to the fundamental knowledge and skills appropriate to their chosen discipline. Students work on a series of exercises and projects of differing time-frames and increasing complexity within a studio environment. Students are encouraged to develop an interactive creative process that incorporates making, evaluating, presenting and relfecting.
Course description Introduce and expand issues within contemporary art studio practice.

Various topics can be introduced during the academic year.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Studio 1 (Art) (ARTX07003) OR Studio 1 (Photography) (ARTX07033)
Co-requisites Students MUST also take: ( Research 2 (Photography) (ARTX08041) AND Professional Practice 2 (Photography) (ARTX08042) AND Art 2: Postmodernism and After (ARTX08025))
Prohibited Combinations Other requirements This course is only available to ECA students on degree programmes belonging to the School of Art.

Direct Entry students to Year 2 must have Recognised Prior Learning equivalent to 120 credits.
Additional Costs ECA students are required to pay for the cost of materials used throughout their programme of study.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. EVALUATE: evaluate and respond to project briefs, and formulate appropriate approaches
  2. DEVELOP: apply fundamental material and conceptual development through a transparent iterative process
  3. REALISE: realise project solutions through structured and transparent methodologies

Study Abroad Erasmus and International Study Abroad in Year 3 may be applied for.
Additional Class Delivery Information Mixture of one hour group seminars and studio critiques.
