Summary | This core course, taken in the second semester of the M.Arch 2 year, requires the student to produce a comprehensive design report that documents in detail one of the projects that the student has completed during the programme. The design report sets out the research and design development undertaken, incorporating images including the key representations of the project itself.
In order to progress to this course students should have passed their first year design studios, Architectural Technology Research, Studies in Contemporary Architectural Theory and their 2nd year 1st semester Design Studios, together with Architectural Management, Practice and Law. |
Course description |
The design report should allow the reader to follow the student's study process, allowing an understanding of the material examined, decisions taken, etc. While the report is an academic document that must be fully referenced and observe all relevant protocols as set out in the briefing materials that will be issued to students, at the same time it is also itself a designed object. It is to be presented bound in hard copy, but may incorporate digital material on a disc (DVD, CD) inserted in the document. No word length is specified, the balance between text and image being a matter for the student.
