| Course description | Advanced Arabic D (AAD) is the fourth phase of the Intensive Arabic programme of the MSc in Arab World Studies. Students will have just returned from four months of Arabic tuition in the Arab world (Intensive Arabic C) where they have been studying both MSA and an element of ECA or Levantine Arabic. Advanced Arabic D will be a ten-week course of six hours per week of group classes plus two hours of e-Learning. The target level is upper-intermediate (B2 in the Common European Framework - CEF).
The aim of Advanced Arabic D is to consolidate what students have already covered during Intensive Arabic A, B and C as well as to widen vocabulary and to improve grammatical accuracy in terms of reading and writing. The course will aim at enabling students to read texts more quickly and with increased confidence. Additionally students will be given the opportunity to develop further both their speaking and listening skills. The focus will be both on Modern Standard Arabic and Educated Spoken Arabic.
Advanced Arabic D will mirror the structure of Intensive Arabic B by being theme topic/theme-based. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| A richer Arabic vocabulary and improving grammatical accuracy in terms of reading and writing. The course will aim to enable students to read with greater speed and increased confidence. Additionally, further develop both their speaking and listening skills. The focus will be on Modern Standard Arabic. |
