  • Notes: Students who have passed courses to the required value of 240 credits in the first two years, and achieved marks of 50% or more at the first attempt in all required Modern European Language second-year courses for their registered degree, and have met the Philosophy requirements below, are normally entitled to progress to honours.
    Progression to Philosophy Honours requires (1) an *average* of 50% across both the mandatory Philosophy courses standardly taken in the second year, Mind, Matter and Language (MML) and Knowledge and Reality (K&R) achieved at the first sitting and (2) a minimum of 40% in each course (MML and K&R) achieved at the first sitting.

    At least 30 weeks spent in the relevant country and prescribed work in Philosophy and the relevant language in an approved establishment.



  • Year 4, Academic year 2014/15, Starting month: August

  • Notes: Final Assessment: One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20 credits and constitutes one 20-credit paper. The following are the twelve 20-credit papers on which the classification of the degree is based. (Papers that for the purposes of degree classification acquire a weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice.). 1. (German Language Paper 1). 2. (German Language Paper 1). 3. (German Language Paper 2). 4. (Oral for German). 5. (Philosophy Work (Year Abroad, MEL)). 6. (Philosophy Work (Year Abroad, MEL)). 7. (MEL Dissertation Preparation (same mark as 8)OR Year Abroad Assessment). 8. (MEL Dissertation Completion OR MEL Long Essay). 9. (German option). 10. (Courses in Philosophy). 11. (Courses in Philosophy). 12. (Courses in Philosophy).
