Notes: Students who have passed courses to the required value of 240 credits in the first two years, and achieved marks of 50% or more at the first attempt in all required Modern European Language second-year courses for their registered degree, and have met the Linguistics requirements below, are normally entitled to progress to honours.
Progression to Linguistics Honours requires (1) an *average* of 50% across all obligatory LEL2 courses, achieved on the first sitting, (2) a minimum of 40% in each obligatory LEL2 course, achieved on the first or second sitting.
At least 30 weeks spent in a relevant country and prescribed work in Linguistics and the relevant language.

Notes: Final Assessment: One unit of assessment is allocated to every 20 credits and constitutes one 20-credit paper. The following are the twelve 20-credit papers on which the classification of the degree is based. (Papers that for the purposes of degree classification acquire a weighting of 40 credits are, therefore, listed twice.). 1. (German 4 Honours Language Paper 1). 2. (German 4 Honours Language Paper 1). 3. (German 4 Honours Language Paper 2). 4. (German Oral). 5. (Year abroad work for MEl/LEL degrees). 6. (Year abroad work for MEL/LEL degrees). 7. (MEL Dissertation Preparation (same mark as 8)OR LEL Preparation Abroad OR MEL Year Abroad Assessment). 8. (MEL Dissertation or Dissertation completion following study abroad (Language Sciences)OR MEL Long Essay). 9. (Honours option course in German). 10. (Course in Language Sciences). 11. (Course in Language Sciences). 12. (Course in Language Sciences).
