SummaryThe course will examine the theology of call, vocation and ministry, whether lay or ordained, within the Christian community. It is designed to help students to reflect more deeply on a range of theologies which underpin different aspects of Christian ministry with a view to beginning to identify the 'operative' theology that informs their sense of ministry.

Prohibited Combinations Other requirements It is recommended that students have passed 60 credits of Level 8 courses in the School of Divinity or have permission of the Course Manager.

Pre-requisitesVisiting students should have at least 3 Divinity/Religious Studies courses at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this). We will only consider University/College level courses.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate understanding of some of the key dimensions of the Theology of Ministry - its material content and its relationship with context and wider church doctrine.
  2. Engage critically with some biblical and contemporary sources.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to develop and deliver a presentation for a seminar.
  4. Participate in constructive discussion and debate with other seminar members in a respectful manner.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to consider the implications of a Theology of Ministry for the development of Christian Church life at local and national levels.
