| Course description | The course aims to provide an up to date review of and encourage critical thinking about some important concepts and findings in contemporary social psychology, including how social psychology can be applied to real world issues.
The course will do this by introducing central themes and providing a review of literature in the following areas: (1) the self in relation to others, (2) applications of social psychology to legal issues, and (3) the role of nonverbal behavior in interpersonal relationships and emotional communication. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

- understand how perceptions of other people are influenced by perceptions of the self, for both cognitive and motivational reasons
- discuss the role of social cognition, attitudes and attributions in legal contexts, using research evidence
