Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will:
- gain an understanding of the work of major thinkers about music, its meanings and its socio-cultural traditions;
- gain the ability to understand theoretical and aesthetic systems and relate theory and practice to each other;
- learn to relate musical works to the broader context of the history of ideas. |
Assessment Information
One 2,000 word essay (40%) to be submitted by 16.00 on Wednesday 5 December 2012, and one two-hour examination (60%) in the May examination diet.
Visiting Student Variant Assessment
One coursework submission c.2,000 words (50%) to be submitted by 4.00pm on the Wednesday of Week 12 (5th Dec 2012), and one further coursework submission c.2,000 words (50%) to be submitted by 4.00pm on the Wednesday of Week 14 (19th Dec 2012). |
