Course description | During the months of June, July and August, candidates for the MSc work on a project on an approved topic and write a dissertation based on this work. The project gives the student the opportunity to apply skills developed earlier in the programme to real operational research problems. Projects often take the form of a consultancy exercise for a sponsoring organisation. Projects usually involve modelling of the problem and applying existing packages or using programming to develop a new application of OR. A wide variety of organisations provide projects topics and assist with their supervision. Students with interests or contacts in particular industries or government departments are encouraged to suggest projects themselves. |
