Course description | A 15,000 word dissertation on a topic relating to the programme, chosen in conjunction with the dissertation. Subject to availability, and the appropriateness of the topic, students are free to choose any member of staff in the subject area of history of art. Dissertation supervision follows the rules set out in the University's Code of Practice for Taught Postgraduate Programmes. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students learn to do an extended piece of original research in the area of history of art. They acquire important experience of using research resources, devising a methodology, and academic writing. The dissertation provides an excellent training for research at MPhil and PhD level in the humanities. |
