Course description | (With Quantitative Methods 2) To provide a thorough training in econometric methods, to enable students to make critical assessments of applied work and to use econometric techniques in PhD work or in employment as economists.
An introduction to the techniques of multivariate linear regression including the use of dummy variables, likelihood estimatio1n and solutoins to the problems of non sphericality and multicollinearity. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Knowledge and understanding of:- The general linear model, the properties of least squares estimators, the use of dummy variables and likelihood analysis and the generalised least squares estimator as a solution to non spherical regression errors. |
Assessment Information
Class exam in December and a final examination in the April/May diet, which will be worth 20 per cent and 80 per cent respectively of the final grade. |
