| Course description | This course requires the completion of a further 150 hours of psychotherapy practice and 30 hours of supervision. Along with the DPsychotherapy Professional Accreditation and Personal Development course, this course completes the professional practice components of the Doctorate in Psychotherapy and Counselling. Students continue to present and analyse their therapeutic practice in small groups, in individual clinical tutorials and clinical supervision. At this stage, students are required to demonstrate sophisticated clinical skills and decision-making, specialist expertise in one or more areas of practice, originality and creativity in the application of knowledge and skills to their therapeutic practice, and the ability to critically analyse their practice with reference to relevant theoretical concepts and research findings |

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. By the end of the course students should have
- a set of complex and sophisticated practice skills to facilitate therapeutic growth for a broad range of clients, including clients who have experienced moderate to severe psychological difficulties
2. - a high level of autonomy and initiative in their professional practice with clients
- the ability to critically analyse their strengths, skills, learning and ongoing support needs in relation to their ability to maintain, develop and conclude effective therapeutic relationships with a range of clients, including clients who have experienced moderate to severe psychological difficulties
3. - the capacity to undertake critical decision-making and creative responses to ethical and other challenges encountered in practice
4. - the capacity to present a critical evaluation of their readiness to practise as a reflective, self-aware, safe, accountable, ethical and scholarly psychotherapist, integrating feedback, assessment and guidance regarding their practice from tutors, supervisors and peers
5. - the capacity to integrate relevant theoretical concepts and the application of research findings to one or more specialist areas of practice
- the capacity to conceptualise and critically analyse the development and effectiveness of therapeutic relationships with reference to their practice with individual clients and relevant research findings
