Course description | Students must gain an overall pass of 50% or above at interim assessment in order to proceed to dissertation. Candidates who gain between 40% and 49% at interim assessment will be awarded the Diploma.
Students wishing to progress from Diploma to MSc will, in addition, complete a 15,000 word (excluding bibliography) dissertation.
The dissertation topic will be agreed in consultation with supervisors; it should involve the study of literature from more than one culture conducted in such a way that the differences between cultures is important to the argument, or engage with a constituted body of critical theory (or both).
Students will receive regular supervision and will be expected to submit a detailed plan and at least one draft of their dissertation to their supervisor.
