Course description | An intensive beginners' course in Scottish Gaelic, providing tuition and practice in written and spoken Gaelic. A considerable amount of private work is needed to meet the requirements of this course. Students not intending to continue their study of Gaelic beyond the first year should normally enrol in CELT08017, Introduction to Gaelic Language and Culture. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Gaelic 1A aims to give students with no previous knowledge of Scottish Gaelic a thorough grounding in written and spoken modern Scottish Gaelic by combining an active use of the language with an intellectual understanding of grammatical structure. By the end of the course, students may expect to have gained a good reading and writing knowledge of modern Scottish Gaelic and also to be able to participate in basic conversations. |
