Course description | The course enables students to acquire a firm foundation in modern spoken (Mandarin) and written Chinese through interactive class work, tutorials and oral tutorial practice. Throughout the course, language learning is placed in the cultural context of the Chinese speaking world today.
This course is not available to native or near-native speakers of Chinese. If in doubt, contact the Course Organiser.
This course is intended primarily for students taking (or intending to take) Chinese honours, and is an intensive language-focussed course with a lot of contact hours and a great deal of private study. Students wishing to learn Chinese as an outside course would probably do better with Introductory Chinese Language and its follow-up - Introductory Chinese Language 2.
See Study Pattern field for details of classes.
All students will be given a formative feedback exercise that will be helpful for the assessment for this course and students¿ general ongoing academic development. |
