Course description | Indicative course content
This module will allow students to make sophisticated choices in terms of the focus for their own directed study which will complement the material covered in the lectures, seminars, workshops or gallery visits associated with the module. Using the taught material as a framework, students will be able to pursue individually selected and approved topics for study, thus enabling a relatively high degree of autonomy, appropriate at this level.
Aims of course
1 To enable students to develop advanced skills in critical analysis and expression at this level
2 To enable students to draw on a body of knowledge acquired through a variety of ways (lectures, seminars, gallery and exhibition visits, personal research via libraries, archives, interviews, and the internet) and to offer new conclusions about contemporary art and design practice
3 To enable students to demonstrate clearly an awareness of the imperatives of a cultural framework beyond the western
