| Course description | The brain is an information-processing device. This course outlines the concepts and techniques used by cognitive neuroscientists to study the neural basis of information processing, including perception, attention, spatial cognition and decision making. Key theoretical concepts at the psychological, anatomical and physiological level will be described. Experimental studies to be discussed are based on both human (e.g. neurological studies of brain-damaged patients and functional imaging work) and animals (e.g. behavioural, electrophysiological, and lesion techniques). This Semester 1 course will consist of lectures and student-led seminars. |
