| Course description | Applications of Econometrics (AofE) extends the coverage of econometric techniques developed in Essentials of Econometrics and illustrates techniques with applications in a variety of economic contexts. Techniques covered are likely to include nonlinear regression, panel data and instrumental variable estimation. Applications are likely to include production functions, individual behaviour over time and natural experiments. Students will be expected to carry out their own modelling and estimation, developing skills frequently expected of contemporary economics graduates in a wide variety of contexts. As this topic lies at the heart of the intersection between the disciplines of informatics and economics, it is perfectly suited for the specialism. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| After successful completion of this course students will have developed their skills of critical analysis and assessment of empirical economics, how to diagnose and address estimation problems and how to carry out independent empirical investigations. |
Assessment Information
Project (35%), a 2 hour degree examination in April/May (65%).
The degree exam must be passed in order to pass the course overall.
