Course description | The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of the role of technical change, and innovation more broadly, in the process of economic change. Particular attention may be paid to the following topics: the contribution of Joseph Schumpeter; the evolutionary/institutional approach to economic change; theory of the firm and learning; clusters, industrial districts, innovation and international competitiveness; the evolution of the telecoms industry in the Internet age; innovation systems; R&D decision-making. |

Pre-requisites | Visiting students should usually have at least 3 Economics courses at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this) for entry to this course. This MUST INCLUDE courses in both Macroeconomics and Microeconomics. We will only consider University/College level courses. |
