| Course description | A continuation of Japanese 1. Teaching will be aimed at enabling students to speak, read and write Modern Japanese at an intermediate level.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Aimed overall proficiency level is Intermediate (low).
2. Speaking: able to handle a variety of straightforward communicative tasks in daily social situations.
3. Listening: able to understand sentence-length utterances in both formal/informal contexts.
4. Reading: With about 300-500 kanji characters in total, students will be able to read semi-authentic Japanese text.
5. Writing: able to write a short text in Japanese such as personal letters/essays, and short descriptions. Students will be able to control more complicated syntax towards the end of the course. |
Assessment Information
Class work (15%): homework, presentations and participation.
Continuous assessment (25%): class tests, quizzes and assignments.
Oral exam (10%).
Degree exam (50%): 3 hour written paper in May diet. |
