| Course description | We will consider speaking, listening, and reading in relation to brains and cognition.
In this course we will review the latest theorising concerning speaking, listening, and reading, the goal being to understand the detailed content of these activities, and how that content is supported by the anatomical and computational nature of human brains.
This is a stand-alone course but has also been designed to complement Language Behaviours, Brains and Cognition: Principles and Approaches. The goal is to reflect an Edinburgh view of language research. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| To understand how to construct a research programme around some aspect of current research in speaking, listening, and reading, so that the student understands the state of the art and can make proposals for further work, potentially at MSc project level or at PhD level. |
