Course description | - Do you want to understand how we use imaging to detect diseases affecting the nervous system e.g. Schizophrenia & Depression?
- Would you like to find out how we use imaging to look at brain anatomy or curious about how we monitor brain function?
- Are you interested in setting up & running experiments which use neuroimaging as an investigative tool?
- This course will provide a background in key technical aspects of neuroimaging, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) & Functional Imaging.
- It will discuss practical neuroimaging aspects and key health & safety issues.
- It will give a brief overview of how neuroimaging techniques have helped advance the understanding and treatment of brain disorders.
- It will discuss key points of relevance between experimental model imaging and human imaging.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate knowledge of & understanding of:
- Different imaging techniques used in modern Neuroimaging
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging basic principles and health & safety issues
- How Neuroimaging techniques are used to investigate key disease entities, both clinically & experimentally
Demonstrate an ability to:
- Integrate information & data gleaned from assigned reading of relevant publications into the taught course materials
- Work individually & in small groups to explore Neuroimaging topics in greater detail
