Course description | This course covers Linear and Functional Analysis. As such it provides a solid and broad foundation to the more pure aspects of mathematical analysis and places many of the techniques of applied analysis on a firm footing. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Thorough understanding of the main properties of Banach and Hilbert spaces and linear operators acting on them. The Hahn¿Banach theorem, Baire's theorem and its consequences.
Familiarity with weak topologies, Krein¿Milman theorem.
Thorough understanding of the concepts and tools developed in the spectral theory of compact operators and C* algebras.
