| Course description | This is a for-credit course offered by the Office of Lifelong Learning (OLL); only students registered with OLL should be enrolled.
The Nobel Prize for Literature is one of the highest accolades a writer can aspire to. Selected from around the globe, the winners all are masters of their craft. This course explores this incredible body of work, reading novels, poetry and plays by some of the finest authors of the last century. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
¿ engage with a variety of genres;
¿ approach unfamiliar works with confidence;
¿ develop coherent ideas, opinions and arguments about texts;
¿ recognise the importance of historical context in reading literature;
¿ show a broad awareness of the issues involved in thinking about literature in a 'global' context.

Assessment Information
| Open Studies 10 credit courses have one assessment. Normally, the assessment is a 2000 word essay, worth 100% of the total mark, submitted by week 12. To pass, students must achieve a minimum of 40%. There are a small number of exceptions to this model which are identified in the Studying for Credit Guide. |
