| Pre-requisites | Visiting students should usually have at least 1 introductory level Language Science course at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this) for entry to this course. We will only consider University/College level courses.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
1. To further understanding of key concepts in areas of formal description fundamental to the analysis of English as a language both of the present day and of the past.
2. To continue to make students aware of and informed about the diversity of English as a world language at social, regional and national levels.
3. To develop a broader and more advanced knowledge of English Language in its historical prespective, both overseas and within the British Isles. |
Assessment Information
Four items of assessment: 2 essays, one in each semester, and an exam in both the December and May diets. All assessment components will be weighted equally at 25%.
For candidates taking the resit exam, the final mark will be either the average of the coursework mark and the resit exam or 100% of the resit exam, whichever is greater.
