Course descriptionFirst semester. Introduction to written and spoken Spanish for students with little or no knowledge of the language. All students take all elements of assessment including the examination.

There is an identical course (Introductory Spanish Language - ELCH07002) which runs in the second semester.
On successful completion of the course students will have the option of taking Intermediate Spanish Language ELCH07003 (20 credits) in Semester 1 or ELCH07004 (20 credits) in Semester 2, which follows on from Introductory Spanish Language.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Basic knowledge of Spanish in a wide variety of situations with the aim to develop confidence in language learning, understanding and responding to others in appropriate situations.
Assessment Information
Regular written exercises in class and two assesments worth 40%, may be accompanied by computer-based language work, and Degree exam at the end of the semester worth 60%.
Special Arrangements
This course is open to all students. DELC students may only take this course if it over and above their full credit load, as in a non credit bearing course.
