Course descriptionAdvanced Language work, written and oral.

The language component of German 3 consists of 3 tutorial groups per week in both semesters, one on translation, one on essay writing and one devoted to oral work.

Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: German 2 (ELCG08006)

Prohibited Combinations Other requirements Students must also have achieved at least 40% in the language component of German 2. Concurrent attendance at a 20 credit level 9 option in the relevant language.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
-To further develop aspects of language skills in reading, writing and speaking German.
-To further encourage grammatical and syntactical accuracy and (in the case of spoken German) a higher degree of fluency than in German 2.
-To provide opportunities for independent study and to promote the effective use of reference resources and authentic language materials.
Assessment Information
Course-work asesssment: written language exercises; continuous assessment of oral work; 2 class exams.

End-of-year exam assessment: written-language paper(translation/essay/Kommentar); oral exam.

Over-all weighting: course work 50%, end-of-year exam 50%.
