Course description | The primary purpose of this module is for students to integrate the theory underpinning the modules in the PEYS pathway with contemporary issues within the field of PE and Youth Sport. Students will critique the research and professional literature in order to consolidate their understanding of the theory-practice synthesis. Subsequently, the main thrust of the module will be to further develop students' abilities of critical analysis and reflection in order to appraise issues in applied and future policy contexts. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On the completion of this module students are required to demonstrate that they are able to
1. Illustrate how different theoretical perspectives underpin or influence discourses on contemporary issues in PEYS;
2. Organise an analytical critique of the research evidence and professional literature on contemporary issues in PEYS;
3. Undertake the process of critical reflection to evaluate contrasting views of contemporary issues in PEYS;
4. Reach informed conclusions about contemporary discourses in PEYS and articulate the impact they have on practice in the field or future research. |
Assessment Information
Students will undertake a critical review of the research and professional literature in one of the contemporary issues covered in the module. On the basis of this review, students will either evaluate the impact of these developments on practice in their work place or develop and justify a research project to be undertaken in the future |
